Marney Malabar

Marney Malabar has had numerous titles over the years: Award Winning
Television Executive; Mom; Divorcee; Athlete; Wife; Graduate student; and then
in 2017, she gained a new title… Widow.

At the age of 57 suddenly Marney was single, living alone and navigating grief
while still trying to understand why most forms she had to fill out only had the
category of ‘Single’ or ‘Married’ as a choice. It seemed the title ‘Widow’ made
people uncomfortable. Marney attended her first widow camp in 2017 and since
she was camp counsellor in her teens Marney felt she had found her people. Now
six years later Marney is returning to camp to lead the session “This wasn’t the
plan, but I still need a plan!”.
