Irene Phypers and her husband Corey had been navigating difficult medical issues for years as a transplant recipient family. Further complications lead to Corey being put back on the transplant wait list which was sadly too long.
Suddenly being widowed at 31 with a teenager to raise and a company to run, Irene often felt like she was running a marathon without moving.
With the support of her family and friends Irene began raising money for Heart and Stroke, Trillium Gift of Life and the Mikey Network. After finding Soaring Spirits and attending her first Camp Widow, Irene began volunteering as a Regional Group Leader. Passionate about giving back to the community and helping people, these opportunities have given Irene and outlet for her creativity and big ideas.
Irene is a proud mum of one and aunt to many, when she’s not volunteering or working, you’ll find her up north Skiing, at the lake or on the sidelines cheering for her sports teams.
Absolutely honoured to have this opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Soaring Spirits Canada Irene looks forward to seeing the impact this incredible organization can make stretch from coast to coast.
