In July 2020, Jane lost her Husband Bill to a very rare syndrome called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS). Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) is a serious disorder that starts with flu-like symptoms, followed by a painful rash. The most common cause is an adverse drug reaction to medication like antibiotics.
During this COVID time, Jane could not be with any Friends or Family. Soaring Spirits was an online recommendation which became a place where Jane found a new Family of Widows and Widowers who were walking the same journey. The twice-a-week Zoom call became the soft place to land to learn about grief, carrying grief and most importantly HOPE.
Recently retired from a 30-year career at Xerox, Jane reached out to volunteer at Soaring Spirits to support those who are also travelling the same journey. Jane found her place within Soaring Spirits, helping with the Camp Widow store and the Camp Widow Tribute Tiles and is now also supporting as Executive Assistant to the Executive Board.
Jane lives in Cambridge, Ontario, and volunteers on various other Committees, enjoys travelling and spending time with her Family, Friends and Neighbours.
