In May 2019, Nadine’s husband was tragically struck by a distracted driver. She was able to speak with him in the ER before he went into surgery, but he fell into a coma and passed away six days later. While the support from family and friends was comforting, it wasn’t until she attended her first Camp Widow® in Toronto in 2019 that she found true understanding and support from others who had experienced widowhood. Inspired by this, Nadine decided to help other widows find the same resources and companionship by volunteering with Soaring Spirits Canada. She works full-time for an Ontario provincial healthcare agency and dedicates her free time to volunteering in communications and marketing for both Soaring Spirits Canada and an international women’s organization. Nadine lives in Waterloo with her Australian Labradoodle, Rosie.
