Steven Sousa

In 2019, Steven’s wife Maggie lost her battle with breast cancer, leaving him a widower and sole parent to three children.

Later that year, he attended his first Camp Widow where he no longer felt alone in his grief. Meeting others who were in similar situations encouraged him to volunteer with Soaring Spirits and pay forward the sense of hope and community that was so important in the grief process.

Steven lives in Ajax, Ontario where he had volunteered for ten years with a local youth organization, providing youth with the opportunity to grow and challenge themselves while developing leadership skills. With his new wife’s encouragement and the support of his children he has joined the board to use his experiences to help others through their journey of widowhood.
