Recently Widowed: Tools and Tips for those Widowed 1-3 years

Widowed and Male: A Panel Conversation for Widowers

Moderator: Greg Mais

This workshop is focused on the needs of our widowers, and offered just for the men at camp. We will explore a variety of topics relating to being male and widowed. What are the challenges widowers face that are unique to the men in our group? How do you handle the people in your life who want to quickly connect you with a new partner? Have you been told you are grieving too long or too much? No topic is off-limits, and your thoughts, comments, and questions are welcome.

Widowed with Children: A Panel Discussion

Moderator: Marny Williams

Marny will be moderating a discussion about the challenging (and sometimes heartwarming) experience of parenting grieving children. She will be joined by a diverse group of widowed panel members who will share their personal parenting experiences addressing a variety of topics and answer questions related to parenting after being widowed.

After losing a spouse you may have to go back to work or decide you want to change careers. However, the idea of relaunching your career after loss can be overwhelming. You may be struggling to figure out what to do next. You didn’t plan to be in this situation, and you don’t know how to start or what to do. At times you may be feeling overwhelmed. Confusion, doubt and fear have crept in, and you’re stuck. The good news is you can learn how to figure it out and take action. In this session, based on my experiences as a career counselor and widow, I will guide you through steps you can take to move from surviving to thriving in a career that is personally satisfying and meaningful.

Story Slam: How We Met

A story slam is live storytelling based on a theme. Today’s theme is “How We Met” and the purpose is to remember, share and commemorate our Loved Ones through storytelling, emphasizing the significance meeting our Loved One played in the grand scheme of our lives.
In this session, participants break into small groups and take turns sharing stories of how they met their Loved One. When the groups reconvene, those who want to share with the larger group will be randomly chosen to do so.
